Manta silicone elastomer gels and silicone powders are designed to improve texture, rheology and sensory performance in personal care formulations. The range includes silicone elastomer gels in volatile or non-volatile carriers, together with spherical silicone resin powders for soft-focus, oil absorption and surface smoothing. These materials are commonly used in primers, liquid foundations, BB creams, sunscreens, skin care products and color cosmetics. They can provide silky glide, reduced tack, pore-blurring effects, controlled viscosity and a matte or satin finish. Product selection should consider carrier type, non-volatile content, processing temperature, thickening efficiency and the desired skin feel.

Typical properties from product TDS; not specification limits. D4, D5 and D6 are on the REACH SVHC candidate list as vPvB substances. Regulation (EU) 2024/1328 limits each to below 0.1% in leave-on cosmetic products placed on the EU market from 6 June 2027; D4 and D5 have been restricted in rinse-off products since 31 January 2020 under Regulation (EU) 2018/35. Cyclic siloxane content is stated per batch on request.

How to Choose

Pick the carrier before the gel

G700, G700-P3 and G701A are supplied in cyclopentasiloxane (D5); G700B and G703B use a dimethicone carrier. The crosslinked network is what delivers the sensory effect, but the carrier decides the break — volatile carriers flash off for a dry finish, non-volatile carriers stay and cushion. It also decides your EU regulatory position.

Non-volatile content is the gel-strength axis

Non-volatile content tells you how much crosslinked polymer you are actually buying. A higher figure means more network per gram, so less product is needed to reach a given thickening or blurring effect — and a stiffer gel that needs more shear to break down evenly.

Gel or powder?

The G-series are pre-swollen gels for oil-phase thickening and slip. PMSQ is a spherical resin powder used dry for soft-focus optics and sebum control. They are not interchangeable: a gel builds body and cushion, a powder scatters light and absorbs oil. Many base formulas use both.

Processing limits worth checking first

Elastomer gels are shear-sensitive and the volatile-carrier grades lose carrier in an open or hot vessel, which shifts the finished viscosity away from your bench result. Incorporate on cool-down in a closed vessel and qualify the shear step at pilot scale.
